Light, Color and Geometry 2017
Optics, Optical Components, Aluminum, Electronics, Laser Light, Haze and Unique Composition
Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Miami, Florida
Light, Color and Geometry was a temporary exhibition designed for the opening of the new Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami.
Schreiber created an immersive space for education and performance based on core principles of light. This included sculpture, custom designed optical components and electronics, original musical composition, performance and light.

Below listen to an audio conversation between Matthew Schreiber and Curator Alexandra Kuechenberg:
A massive Cuboctahedron form was fabricated that behaved as a vertical and functioning laboratory. Each of the 4 “diamonds” demonstrated a core principal of light, most specifically laser light. This included:
1. Optical Lens Properties
2. The Visible portion of the Electromagnetic Spectrum
3. The Additive Properties of Light
4. The Wave Nature of Light
The Cuboctahedron was placed on a stage where museum performers demonstrated each property.
Between all 4 demonstrations the entire space would become an immersive environment with laser light and original music. Each musical piece and “lasershow” was abstractly informed by the technical demonstrations.
